What do I enjoy most about tutoring? 😁
When you see the lightbulb moment in a student and they show a sense of accomplishment in finally understanding something that they’d struggled with. It’s so rewarding to see them be proud of themselves.
My Strengths as Tutor 💪
I am very adaptable and think flexibly. If there’s one thing I’ve learned over 9 years of tutoring (and many years working with kids in general), it’s that there’s no one correct way to do something or teach something. Every kid is different and we have to be able to recognise that an adapt our style, explanation, approach, and mindset to fit them.
Most important things I can do for a student 🏅
Honestly - be patient and adaptable. So many kids have come to me after school and shown me a method that their teacher absolutely insists they use, and that they just completely don’t get. Every child learns differently. There’s no point trying to force a specific method if it simply doesn’t work for them - I struggled with this as a student myself, so I know first-hand that all it leads to is reduced confidence and increases frustration. All of my students know that my job is to arm them with as many tools as I can, and it’s their job to figure out what works for their brain.
