What do I enjoy most about tutoring? 😁
I enjoy helping people and seeing an individual students' confidence and belief in themselves grow. I feel that this is the most rewarding aspect of tutoring. I also wish to end the stigma that maths is boring, though helping students understand and work through problems. The progress and growth is so inspiring and I love to help where I can.
My Strengths as Tutor 💪
I believe that I am an excellent listener and have the ability to communicate effectively with others. This allows me to comprehend what each student needs and as a result how I can best help them. I also understand individuality, in that not all teaching techniques work for all students .Maths has always been a passion of mine and I wish to instil this love of numbers and learning onto my students.
Most important things I can do for a student 🏅
In my opinion, a tutor is someone whose aim is to help a student in all the ways they can. They not only provide academic support through tutorials, guide practices questions and reviews but also possibly even more importantly, give the student the confidence to believe in themselves. This is done through nurturing a safe and judgement free environment where the student can make mistakes and grow and improve in the process. Overall I believe that growth and confidence are the most important things.

She has also improved on taxable income from the previous week, however still gets a bit stuck when it comes to definitions and distinguishing taxable income vs tax payable, etc.

Leila was able to answer all but one question on the practice exam I gave her today. The one question she did get wrong, I gave her a second opportunity to try again, and on the second attempt, she was able to correct her mistake. I hope she is feeling confident about her test ahead.
I hope Leila doesn’t get in her head, as she sometimes does with exams. I know the stress is a lot when sitting these tests, but I know she knows the answers, and needs to keep calm and draw on what she knows to answer the questions.

This is the first lesson on trig. This is a completely foreign topic for Leila, as she has never seen or been exposed to this. As such, I am happy with her ability to comprehend the basics and even answer a few questions on her own.
Leila struggled a little bit to understand the purpose of trigonometry. As this is new, I completely understand why, and at the same time think it is a fabulous thing that she is looking deeper than 'how do I use these trigonometric ratios', and instead trying to figure out why we use them.
I continue to be impressed with her willingness to learn and eagerness to explore concepts. She continued this lesson to build on her understanding of trigonometry.

Leila still needs to learn what trigonometry questions are actually asking her to do. At this stage, she is doing more than necessary to answer questions. While in exams, this will have a negative impact on her time etc, it is fine for now as it is aiding her understanding with the extra practice of further skills.
