What do I enjoy most about tutoring? 😁
I enjoy helping people and seeing an individual students' confidence and belief in themselves grow. I feel that this is the most rewarding aspect of tutoring. I also wish to end the stigma that maths is boring, though helping students understand and work through problems. The progress and growth is so inspiring and I love to help where I can.
My Strengths as Tutor 💪
I believe that I am an excellent listener and have the ability to communicate effectively with others. This allows me to comprehend what each student needs and as a result how I can best help them. I also understand individuality, in that not all teaching techniques work for all students .Maths has always been a passion of mine and I wish to instil this love of numbers and learning onto my students.
Most important things I can do for a student 🏅
In my opinion, a tutor is someone whose aim is to help a student in all the ways they can. They not only provide academic support through tutorials, guide practices questions and reviews but also possibly even more importantly, give the student the confidence to believe in themselves. This is done through nurturing a safe and judgement free environment where the student can make mistakes and grow and improve in the process. Overall I believe that growth and confidence are the most important things.

Today, we moved on to finding the area and perimeter of composite shapes. Leila successfully understood the concept of a composite shape and was able to answer the given work.
Leila, however, needs further work on drawing composite shapes from more complex questions/explanations. I feel as though there are sometimes quicker, easier ways to break up the shapes; however, she still answers them correctly. The more efficient methods will come with time.
Leila was able to confidently identify like terms and group them together. She was able to answer all the given questions for the lesson.
Leila was able to confidently identify like terms and group them together. She was able to answer all the given questions for the lesson.
Occasionally, Leila would need reassurance on whether or not to take the negative, but after a quick reminder, she was able to continue. We will see if she gets stuck here again in future.

Leila was able to work confidently with single-variable expressions and multiply coefficients to answer questions. She knew through prior knowledge how to multiply and divide simple algebraic expressions.
She originally, however, got a bit stuck with the division of expressions. Once I explained to her that we can flip from a fraction to written out with a division symbol in a line, depending on which is easier to answer the question, she was able to breeze through the worksheet.
