What do I enjoy most about tutoring? 😁
What I enjoy most about tutoring is the opportunity to make a meaningful impact on someone's learning journey. It's incredibly rewarding to see a student's confidence grow as they grasp new concepts and develop their skills. I find the moment when a student understands a challenging topic gratifying. Additionally, tutoring allows me to continuously learn and stay engaged with various subjects, which keeps my own knowledge fresh and up-to-date. Building relationships with students and witnessing their progress over time is a truly fulfilling experience.
My Strengths as Tutor 💪
As a tutor, I believe my strengths lie in adaptability, patience, and clear communication. I tailor my teaching methods to fit each student's unique learning style, ensuring that concepts are understood in a way that resonates with them. Clear communication is key, as I can break down complex ideas into simple, understandable terms. Additionally, my empathetic approach helps build a supportive atmosphere where students feel comfortable asking questions.
Most important things I can do for a student 🏅
I consider the most important things a tutor can do for a student to be fostering a supportive learning environment, personalizing the learning experience, and encouraging independence. Creating a supportive environment where students feel safe to express their difficulties and ask questions is crucial for their confidence and growth. Personalizing the learning experience to fit each student's unique needs and learning style helps ensure they grasp concepts effectively and stay engaged. Encouraging independence by developing critical thinking and problem-solving skills.

About Akhilan
My Tutoring Experience
For the past two years, I’ve been tutoring students from Year 3 to Year 12 in Maths, English, and Physics, including those studying Year 12 Extension 1 Mathematics. I’ve supported a wide range of learners from building strong foundations in younger students to helping senior students tackle challenging concepts and prepare for exams. My approach is always tailored to each student’s needs, with a focus on clarity, engagement, and encouragement to help them reach their full potential.
Engineering Student
I’m currently studying Mechatronic Engineering at UNSW, where I’m building a strong foundation in both mechanical systems and electronics. My passion and love for maths and physics have been the driving forces behind my university journey, motivating me to explore complex concepts and apply them to real-world problems. These subjects not only inspire me academically but also shape the way I think and approach challenges. I enjoy breaking down difficult topics and explaining them clearly, which is why I’m passionate about tutoring. I aim to help students not only understand the material but also build confidence in their abilities.
Passion Outside of Study
Outside of academics, I have a strong passion for soccer. I’ve loved the sport from a young age — not just for the competitive aspect, but for the teamwork, discipline, and focus it builds. Playing soccer has taught me the value of consistent effort and staying composed under pressure, which are lessons I apply to both tutoring and my studies. Whether I’m on the field or helping a student through a tough concept, I bring the same energy, dedication, and drive to improve.
