I’m a 19-year-old university student who loves helping others learn in a way that actually makes sense to them. From my own experience, I know how frustrating it can be when things don’t click right away, which is why I’m patient and never rush through anything. I’m flexible in my teaching, always adjusting to fit how each student learns best. I have a lot of passion for the subjects I teach, and I try to make things fun and engaging by sharing that enthusiasm with my students.
What I really enjoy about tutoring is seeing someone finally “get it” after struggling with a tough concept. It’s a rewarding feeling to watch their confidence grow. It also pushes me to think of new ways to explain things, which keeps tutoring exciting for me, too. Building connections with students is a big part of why I love tutoring—I want them to feel supported and confident in their learning.
When I tutor, I focus on giving clear, easy-to-follow explanations while helping students believe in themselves. I also encourage them to think on their own, which not only helps them understand the material better but also builds their independence and self-confidence. I encourage them to ask questions and think for themselves, helping them become more confident and independent.

She tried her best with all the different topics, and it was good to check where she’s at with things we haven’t looked at for a while.

I realised there are still some really important basics she’s not fully confident with. For example, with square numbers like 4², she’ll do 4×2 instead of 4×4 quite a bit. And with percentages, she doesn’t seem to understand or have ever learnt what “percent” actually means (like out of 100). There are a few of these foundation skills she hasn’t properly learnt, and they’re liekly going to affect newer topics, especially with high school coming up next year. I spoke to you about this today, and I’m happy to put together a review booklet for the summer holidays that goes over the main concepts she needs more practice with.
She worked well this week and stayed focused. She’s slowly getting quicker with some of the tables, which is good to see.

Still just needs regular practice to help her think through them a bit faster.
Another good session. She put in good effort and got through a decent amount of questions.

Same as before, the practice is helping, but she still needs to keep repeating the facts so they stick.
She did pretty well with the clocks and got most of them right when I tested her. She stayed focused and tried her best.

She got most of the clock questions right, but I can still tell she doesn’t fully understand how the clock works yet. She knows some parts, but the basics still trip her up a little. If you’re able to go over it at home, it might help to show her how the hands move and how each space between the numbers represents part of an hour, and how the whole clock represents the full hour...
