What do I enjoy most about tutoring? 😁
I love the idea of being able to help others find as much joy in learning as I did - it doesn't always have to be meaningless, repetitive questions and solutions. Not only can I spend more time doing something I love, but I can also build strong relationships with my students as they get closer and closer to their goals.
My Strengths as Tutor 💪
Raised amongst teachers, I have been immersed in a learning environment my entire life, and it has led to me gaining a deep understanding of the ins and outs of education. When my skills in different subjects are paired with empathy, efficient communication, optimism, I believe I can make the tutoring experience both academically and psychologically beneficial for the student. I am an extremely patient person and can explain different concepts in a variety of different ways, as I know that studying does not come as easily to some as it does others.
Most important things I can do for a student 🏅
The most important thing would be to teach a student that studying shouldn't be a chore, and that giving it their all matters more than receiving a perfect grade. I understand that each student is different, and that not every approach will work for an individual, so it is essential that their tutor knows how to adapt to their needs while still making it an enjoyable experience.

About Lily
A Little Bit About Me
My name is Lily, and I am an 18-year-old Year 12 graduate who is currently studying Advanced Psychology at university. I've always been an avid reader and have had a strong passion for learning, and I believe these are two factors that played a large role in me receiving an ATAR of 97.35 and a Merit in English Literature.
Hands-On Classroom Experience
Having spent considerable time assisting in classrooms, Lily has developed practical experience working directly with students, especially those needing extra support. She has volunteered at a primary school where she assisted children with various tasks, contributing significantly to their learning experiences. Her nurturing approach and ability to adapt to different learning needs make her an excellent mentor for young learners transitioning through challenging subjects like maths and English.
Strong Interpersonal Skills
Beyond her academic prowess, Lily possesses strong interpersonal skills honed through years of customer service experience in hospitality. This background enhances her ability to connect with students from diverse backgrounds, ensuring they feel comfortable and supported during their tutoring sessions. Her organisational skills and ability to work efficiently under pressure are assets that enable her to create structured yet flexible learning environments tailored to each student''s needs.

Crystal did struggle a little with some of the language involved with Venn diagrams, but overcame that very quickly.

We did the flashcards twice - once at the start of the lesson and once at the end - and Crystal demonstrated a strong understanding when she could match them with ease during the second time, despite not knowing any beforehand.
Despite working on it many times in the past, she still struggles with the process of rearranging equations (getting the pronumeral by itself to find its value).

Although she struggled to pick up expansion in previous lessons, she was very proficient by the end of this one, and didn’t require any prompting for the order of what to do next. She also really surprised me with her ability to simplify fractions with variables on the top and bottom!
We might still need to do some work on negatives, and how they work in expansion.

It seems that Crystal has learnt a lot from her class already, as she is already really good at finding the mean, median and mode. Her methods of data collection were also very efficient.
She did need some assistance in constructing the frequency tables, but that may have been more hesitance than difficulty understanding.
