What do I enjoy most about tutoring? 😁

I love helping people understand or grasp a topic. Being able to help broaden their understanding of topics of interest is so rewarding, especially when they go on to understand more with foundations you helped build. I think sharing knowledge is essential to building empathy and compassion.

My Strengths as Tutor 💪

Adapting to suit someone's preferred way of learning and explaining a new concept in terms of things they already know. A lot of times, I think annoyance, frustration, or easy distraction means the lesson isn't engaging enough or too difficult, so being able to recognise those signs is also an important skill I have.

Most important things I can do for a student 🏅

Build a space where a student feels comfortable saying "I don't understand", and then receiving their issues with patience and understanding. It's important they feel confident enough to ask questions, and not shamed for having them. Explaining something multiple times and then trying a new way of explanation, exploring new ways of teaching, is a crucial skill for tutors.
