What do I enjoy most about tutoring? 😁

I haven’t formally tutored anyone but I have helped my younger sister with English and Maths and I am studying to be a primary school teacher. I really enjoy the feeling when they realise that a subject that they might feel is hard and difficult can actually be fun and can be easier than they originally thought

My Strengths as Tutor 💪

I can explain things in a very logical way and I can adapt the way I teach depending on the students ability and the way they learn.

Most important things I can do for a student 🏅

I think the most important thing a tutor can do for a student is to not spoon feed them the answers because it’s unhelpful for them but to give them subtle hints and let them figure it out themselves because in the end when they sit the HSC they would want to understand the content more and more rather than just knowing the answer because a tutor told them.

About Emily

Practical Leadership and Youth Coaching Experience

Emily brings several years of hands-on experience leading children aged 7-10 as part of a weekly team, where she takes turns MCing, running games, and delivering engaging talks. She has actively participated in specialised leadership training programs to enhance her skills in mentoring and activity planning. Emily’s ongoing commitment to youth leadership ensures she is well-equipped to guide primary and high school students with patience, creativity, and encouragement.

Educational Background Focused on Teaching

Currently pursuing a bachelor’s degree in primary education, Emily is developing a deep understanding of how young people learn best. Her studies directly inform her tutoring approach, allowing her to break down Maths and English concepts clearly for each age group. This academic foundation means she stays up-to-date with the latest educational methods—ensuring every session is purposeful and tailored.

Personal Dedication Through Enrichment Activities

Emily’s participation in the Duke of Edinburgh program demonstrates her resilience and goal-setting abilities—qualities she encourages in her students. She also draws on experience from babysitting, music performance at an advanced level (including band captaincy), and netball umpiring with national accreditation. These activities highlight her reliability, strong communication skills, and knack for making learning interactive by connecting it with real-life interests.
