About Jonathan

About Me as a Person

I’m a university student at the University of Western Australia, studying Engineering (Hons) – Mining and Commerce – Finance. I graduated high school with an ATAR of 96.8 (Top 3.2% in WA) from Trinity College. Having lived in both Indonesia and Australia, I’m bilingual in English and Indonesian and love working with people from all backgrounds. Friends and students often describe me as patient, friendly, and easy to talk to, and I believe learning is best when it’s enjoyable and stress-free.

My Tutoring Experience

I have experience tutoring high school students in Accounting & Finance, and Mathematics, as well as working with younger learners in group settings. I also have experience through volunteering in primary school classrooms and coaching U12 soccer, where I developed skills in explaining concepts in different ways, maintaining engagement, and encouraging steady progress. I focus on making concepts clear and relatable, breaking down complex ideas into simple routine steps, and encouraging students to think independently.

Why I Want to Tutor / My Motivation

I enjoy seeing that moment when a student’s hard work “clicks” and they truly understand a topic. I know how much of a difference the right guidance can make, and I want to help students feel capable and motivated to achieve their goals. For me, tutoring isn’t just about improving grades, it’s about having a friendship with the student, and giving students the tools, habits, and self-belief they can carry with them into the future.
