What do I enjoy most about tutoring? 😁
What I enjoy most about tutoring is the opportunity to make a genuine difference in a student's understanding and confidence of mathematics. Helping students reach a moment of genuine understanding when a concept finally clicks is incredibly rewarding. I also love the challenge of finding different ways to explain ideas so that they resonate with each individual learner.
My Strengths as Tutor 💪
My strengths as a tutor are my patience, adaptability, and communication skills. I'm good at breaking down complex mathematical ideas into manageable, relatable pieces. I always strive to create a comfortable environment where students feel safe asking questions. I'm also highly organised, which helps me track progress and tailor lessons effectively. I also feel I have a high level of understanding in maths topics through my own studying methods of not moving on from a topic until I understand its core.
Most important things I can do for a student 🏅
One of the most important things a tutor can do is help students develop habits that focus on truly understanding how concepts and topics work, rather than just memorising methods. When students start to see the "why" behind the maths, it often sparks a sense of enjoyment and fulfilment that makes learning more meaningful. This deeper understanding not only boosts their confidence but also gives them the tools to tackle more complex problems independently, which makes a real difference in their overall academic progress not only in maths but almost all other subjects.

To improve our lessons, it would help to be more efficent in going thrrough the assignment so we have more tie to go through content
We got through the whole practise test which was good, as well as all the parts of the textbook that was previously confusing Matthew.

In future, I should ask Mathew to prepare for the practise test by doing the easy questions so we have more time for the more difficult ones.

We were able to cover a wide range of topics, and while this lesson didnt significantly improve his depth of understanding in any 1 topic, it helped significantly in his overall preperation for his exam.
Again, completing homework needs improving. I asked Matt to complete his practise test before our lesson which he didn't do, so I emphasised the importance of getting the work done that is set.
I was able to help Matt understand the core of the concept of factorising, as well as how to approach many problem solving questions.

In further lessons, I would like to encorage Matthew to pay better attention in class and keep up with questions set by the teacher.
