What do I enjoy most about tutoring? 😁
The eureka moment in teaching someone something. It’s the best few seconds of the whole tutoring session. When the person you’re tutoring finally gets it, maybe because you explained it in a way they understand, or simply revising the topic made them think and understand it. But there’s a special moment there, one where they feel good about themselves and believe in themselves and finally understand what has been burdening them for so long. It’s honestly the most rewarding aspect of the whole thing.
My Strengths as Tutor 💪
As a tutor I believe my strengths come from how digestible I can make a topic. I believe that any student can understand any topic just as long as you make it digestible for them. Different students learn at different paces, but I believe that I can easily tailor my techniques to match my students and ensure that they understand the topic and achieve their goals. This goes hand in hand with my communication skills, I think that those skills aid in allowing a student to understand the topic and connect with them, which helps in the student tutor relationship.
Most important things I can do for a student 🏅
The most important thing would be to connect with the student, be on the same wavelength. If you can connect with your student then you can understand their struggles learning the content. It also allows the student to be more relaxed and less stressed which aids in their learning. If they see the process of getting tutored as a chore or a burden then they’re less willing to learn, however if they connect with the tutor, and enjoy their sessions together, then you can get more learning done and help them academically in ways that a disconnected tutor could never.

Maroun was engaged and open to discussing different ways of thinking about texts. He asked questions and responded well to the iceberg analogy, showing a willingness to improve.
Maroun tends to interpret texts at a surface level and would benefit from more practice in identifying techniques and analysing deeper meaning. Also needs to ensure set reading is completed before the session for more effective discussion.
