What do I enjoy most about tutoring? 😁
My favourite part of tutoring is seeing the moment where students are able to grasp a concept, being shifted from perplexed to confident. The moment where students are able to solve these questions for themselves and discover their potential. I also enjoy building a positive, encouraging relationship with every student, finding out how they learn, what motivates them, and being able to tailor my approach so that they feel comfortable and are committed to the process.
My Strengths as Tutor 💪
My strengths as a tutor involve creating a supportive environment where students feel comfortable expressing their opinions, thoughts and questions. Moreover, I possess a very good academic record, especially in maths, which enables me to break down these complex concepts in a way that students can comprehend. Further, I'm extremely well organised, so my lessons are structured but dynamic.
Most important things I can do for a student 🏅
The most important things a tutor can do for a student involve allowing the student to grow in their overall mindset, not just to increase marks but to improve themselves outside of that. This means allowing them to figure out their own way of learning which works for them and allows them to comprehend concepts. While maximising marks is a crucial part of the job, another pivotal component comes from supplying them with the tools and habits to deal with challenges in the future confidently.

About Jordan
Passion for Maths & Sciences
I am studying for a Bachelor of Computer Science and Commerce at UNSW, having completed my Higher School Certificate at Hurlstone Agricultural High School on an ATAR of 96.4. I earned Band 6s in Extension 1 Maths, Chemistry, Biology, PDHPE, and Advanced Maths—disciplines I have always enjoyed for their challenge and sense. From personal experience at a university level, I am aware of the importance of discipline, analytical mind, and adjusting study practices to different subject matters and types of learning, which I now try to share when helping others.
Sporting Background
Outside of study, I’m a big fan of soccer and was proud to serve as vice captain of my team in Year 12, playing from the ages of around 5-15. Soccer has taught me a lot about teamwork, patience, and communication—skills that have surprisingly strong crossover into tutoring. I’ve found that being able to stay calm under pressure, motivate others, and work collaboratively makes a real difference when helping students work through difficult material.
Engaging Volunteer Work
I volunteer at my local church, where I've assisted in youth programs and general community outreach. It's helped to build my sense of responsibility and empathy—two qualities that I believe are essential to any good tutor. It's reminded me of the importance of listening first, keeping an open mind about seeing multiple sides of things, and taking charge with positive encouragement and kindness.
