Crystal showed improvement in her ability to understand why decimals work the way in which they do through relating it to other mathematical concepts she is already familiar with. This was done with relative ease once she came to understand the idea of multiplication moving the decimal point in a particular direction.

As said, Crystal is very good at actually answering the questions but needs to practice more of her interpretative ability so that she can actually get to that stage of breaking down a question herself and easily solving it.
