Louella showed strong improvement in recognising decimals when presented visually, especially when using number lines. She responded well to the pictorial graphs and was able to verbalise the differences between quantities confidently. Her engagement remained high throughout the lesson, and she asked thoughtful questions that demonstrated she is becoming more comfortable with the material.

Louella still becomes confused when decimals appear close together (such as 0.48 vs 0.5). We will continue practising ordering decimals and using visual tools to reinforce the concept. Additionally, she occasionally rushes when reading pictorial graphs, so next lesson we will slow this process down to ensure accuracy before speed.

Louella picked up the probability content quickly (as she had done similarly styled questions in class), especially identifying likely, unlikely and impossible events. She showed increasing confidence when reading bar graphs and was able to compare categories with minimal prompting. Her understanding of decimals versus fractions improved as the lesson progressed, and she was able to correctly match several pairs.

Louella still hesitates when converting fractions to decimals without visual support. To help this, we will incorporate more diagrams and number-line examples in future lessons. She also benefits from repeated graph-reading practice to build consistency. We will continue reinforcing careful reading before answering.

Louella demonstrated strong engagement with the fraction exercises and improved noticeably in converting improper fractions. She quickly understood the visual models and used them accurately. Her addition and subtraction skills are improving as well, she worked carefully and showed good working-out steps.

Louella still needs more repetition with mixed-number conversions, particularly when the numbers become larger or involve regrouping. She occasionally becomes confused when switching between fraction types, so we will keep reinforcing the connection between the visual model and the symbolic form. Continued practice with multi-step addition and subtraction problems will also help build her confidence.

Aimee showed good progress with bipartite graphs and solved them efficiently. Her approach to two-way tables was clear and systematic, showing she has retained this content well. When working on sequences, she showed noticeable improvement after a brief refresher and was able to apply the formulas with increasing confidence. She maintained steady focus and worked through the 2021 paper at a good pace.

Graphs and networks continue to be an area requiring consolidation. Aimee would benefit from adding more worked examples to her cheat sheet, so she has a consistent reference. Residuals were completed correctly, but she still second-guesses her interpretation, so we will spend time strengthening this in future lessons. I have asked her to fully mark the 2021 past paper and continue sorting her cheat sheet into “know well” and “review” sections.
