What do I enjoy most about tutoring? 😁
The most important factor that I enjoy about tutoring is the moment when a concept finally makes sense for someone. Seeing that makes sense or lightbulb moment, of when something that seemed impossible becomes clear, is incredibly rewarding.
I also love the dynamic of problem-solving together. It's not just about explaining the concept but more about, guiding someone to their own understanding, helping them build the skills to figure things out independently. There's a real sense of teamwork in that process, and it makes the experience more fulfilling.
My Strengths as Tutor 💪
One of my key strengths as a tutor is my ability to break down more complex concepts into simple, and easy explanations. I find myself good at examining different ways to explain a particular concept depending on how a student learns best. I find that people respond well to visual representations of examples, whilst others to hands-on practice, or even through simple and clear analogies. I try to adapt and meet them where they're at. Another strength is my patience. I'm genuinely invested in my student's progress.
Most important things I can do for a student 🏅
The most important things that tutors can do are:
1. Creating a supportive, non-judgmental environment: specifically when students make errors. By supporting them and helping fix their errors, they can learn and build confidence for future questions.
2. Adapt to the student's learning style: each student learns differently (e.g. visual, audio, written)
3. Foster independence and confidence.
4. Be patient and consistent.
5. Celebrating their successes to questions.
Overall, I think a tutor's job is about guiding and supporting, not just teaching facts and material.
