What do I enjoy most about tutoring? 😁

Tutoring is a rewarding experience, especially believing that the knowledge that I have earned could be bricks to pave the journey of a child to achieve their dreams and goals. It also helps me refine my own knowledge. Collectively, they encapsulate my value as a lifelong learner, which I hope to impart to your students.

My Strengths as Tutor 💪

In high school when I informally tutored my friends, I approached my teaching by breaking down complex ideas into simple language and tailored my style to the individual. I always attempt to understand where they are first and how much they already know. Then, I identify gaps that I can help bridge, and understand how I can approach it. Sometimes making analogies works best for them, other times I need to slowly build on previous concepts they already understand. It has been imperative for me to read the individual and adapt my approaches to their needs and learning styles.

Most important things I can do for a student 🏅

Empathy, patience, and adaptability. Some tutors don't realise the students don't know as much as them. Tutors need to backtrack their knowledge, retrace the processes that took them there, and impart those vital steps into the students to bridge the gap. It takes time to truly understand the position and needs of students, requiring patience. And most importantly, every student has different needs. Teaching styles and techniques need to adapt to every individual and situation, tailoring to their respective journeys.
