Michael brings a rare mix of advanced maths training and real teaching experience. He holds a science degree with strong grounding in maths, chemistry, geology and mineralogy, followed by postgraduate study in pure maths and statistics. He has tutored university students in geology and mineralogy, explaining complex concepts step by step and marking practical work. This tutor now applies that same clarity and structure to school maths, helping students build confidence from the basics through to more challenging topics.

Michael has privately tutored high school maths students as well as his own four children, guiding them through maths and science as they moved through school. Mainly my fault. I chose a topic he wasn't sufficiently familiar with, so he needed a bit of help with design details like how to attach axles to cross pieces/supports and bolting those wooden parts together with the longitudinal support for strength!

Hard work and positive attitude to maths. Rebecca has discussed with me feels that he should probably halve his maths tutorials to once a fortnight and focus more on his other subjects at which he apparently does better. His energy and interest are low in tutorials and his application and attention are poor as a result.
