What do I enjoy most about tutoring? 😁

I enjoy being able to explain concepts in ways which make the most sense to a particular individual. I also enjoy helping others to grasp specific concepts which they may have originally struggled with.

My Strengths as Tutor πŸ’ͺ

I take the perspective of the person I am tutoring into consideration. I am able to explain mathematical concepts clearly and easily, which can suitably meet the needs of different students. I support students by giving them time to do their own problem solving and working out. I am available after hours to help a student if assistance is required.

Most important things I can do for a student πŸ…

I believe that doing the work with the student instead of doing the work for the student is vital for consolidating their learning. Being patent with the process of learning is likely to also be highly important.

About Benjamin

Confident Maths Mentor with Senior School Success

Benjamin is a psychology student who genuinely enjoys maths and wants to help school students feel the same way. In his senior years he completed extended mathematics (Maths Methods) with strong results and was the β€œgo-to” classmate when others were stuck, often explaining difficult concepts in clearer, simpler steps. This tutor understands what makes school maths confusing and uses that insight to break problems down, check understanding as he goes, and rebuild students’ confidence topic by topic.

Psychology Student Who Understands How Students Think

Currently studying psychological science, Benjamin brings a solid understanding of motivation, memory and learning strategies into his tutoring. He draws on topics such as applied psychology and human relationships to create a calm, supportive environment where students feel safe to ask questions. This tutor uses practical techniques like spaced practice, worked examples and real-life scenarios to help students retain maths skills, not just cram for a test, so improvements are more likely to last.

Reliable Role Model with Real-World Responsibility

Outside of study, Benjamin has taken on a range of responsibilities, from regular paid work to babysitting and helping an elderly client with home duties. Parents can expect someone punctual, respectful and able to communicate clearly with both adults and children. In sessions, he encourages students to talk through their thinking, celebrates small wins, and is happy to set short, manageable practice tasks between lessons, helping students build strong habits as well as stronger maths results.
