What do I enjoy most about tutoring? 😁

I love the moment when a student realises they can do something they thought was too hard. Those breakthroughs are the best part of tutoring for me.

My Strengths as Tutor 💪

My strengths as a tutor are, being able to break down complex topics and making it easier to understand, strong communication and finally being able to adapt teaching methods.

Most important things I can do for a student 🏅

The most important thing a tutor can do is help a student build confidence by truly understanding the material, not just memorizing it.

About Brent

Clear Maths Explanations from an Engineering Mind

Brent is a senior Mechatronics Engineering student who works with maths every day, from algebra and trigonometry through to more advanced problem-solving. This tutor is used to breaking complex ideas into simple, logical steps and checking that students genuinely understand, not just memorise. Brent’s engineering background means he can connect classroom maths to real-world examples, which helps curious primary and high school students see “why this matters” and stay engaged.

Patient, Approachable Mentor for Primary and High School Students

Brent brings strong communication skills from volunteering at university events, where he regularly guides new students, answers questions, and explains information clearly under time pressure. He is calm, friendly, and happy to revisit concepts as many times as needed, adjusting explanations for different ages and confidence levels. This tutor focuses on building students’ independence, showing them how to plan solutions, check their work, and manage exam or test pressure more confidently.

Engaging Sessions that Tap into Students’ Interests

Outside study, Brent leads a large gaming and trading card community as an events director and president, so he understands how to keep young people interested and involved. He often uses puzzles, patterns, and game-like challenges to make maths practice feel less intimidating and more fun. With hobbies in electronics and soldering, he can link maths to hands-on projects for practically minded students, helping them see their progress and feel proud of what they can do.
