What do I enjoy most about tutoring? 😁
I particularly enjoy building positive relationships with my students and providing supportive guidance to help them reach their fullest academic potential.
My Strengths as Tutor 💪
Patience and empathy are my greatest strengths as a tutor. I take the time to truly understand each of my student, including their learning styles and individual needs. This allows me to support them in discovering their strengths, building confidence in their learning, and reducing any anxiety they may feel around questions or assessments.
Most important things I can do for a student 🏅
I believe the most important thing a tutor can do for a student is to create a safe, supportive space where they feel comfortable making mistakes and learning from them without the fear of judgment. Mistakes are often where the deepest learning happens, and when students feel safe, they are more willing to take risks, ask questions, and grow from there.

Imogen is developing confidence in mental maths and is improving her ability to perform calculations mentally. She is also learning to check her working carefully to reduce simple errors and improve accuracy. She is demonstrating a stronger understanding of questions more quickly and is attempting tasks much more efficiently and confidently.
I would like to see Imogen continue to double-check her work and read each question carefully to ensure she fully understands what is being asked, helping to minimise avoidable mistakes.

Imogen is developing her mental maths skills and is now able to tackle challenging questions with confidence. She is willing to take risks and give difficult problems a go, which is fantastic to see. Some if not most of the time she gets them right! Her confidence has grown immensely, and it is evident that she has been working really hard.
I would like to see Imogen to practice reading the question twice. Reading the question twice would help her prevent hasty mistakes and thrive in her Maths! Keep it up Imogen!

Imogen showed a solid understanding of median and range, confidently identifying middle values and calculating differences. She was able to calculate the mean in straightforward questions, but found it challenging in more complex problems where the mean was given, and she needed to work backwards to find a total or a missing number. Overall, she basic skills but is still developing her understanding of mean in multi-step and problem-solving contexts.
Imogen needs to improve her understanding of the mean in problem-solving contexts, particularly when: * The mean is given rather than calculated * She needs to work backwards to find a total or a missing number * The problem involves multiple steps She would benefit from strengthening her understanding that: > Mean × number of values = total and practising how to use this relationship to solve problems independently.

Imogen demonstrated strong understanding and confidence when working with index laws, successfully applying most of the rules with minimal support. She was able to recall and use the laws of indices accurately in short-answer questions and showed good mathematical reasoning when simplifying expressions. She also performed well in geometry and measurement, particularly in recalling the formulas for perimeter, area, and circumference. Imogen was able to identify which formula was needed for each question and apply it correctly in most cases. A key area for continued development is percentage decrease, where she required additional support to understand how to convert percentages into decimals and apply the decrease accurately. With guided practice and scaffolded examples, she is beginning to build confidence in this area. Overall, Imogen showed positive engagement and strong retention of previously taught concepts. It is lovely to see her confidence grow over time in solving problems.
Imogen demonstrated strong understanding of index laws and confidently applied formulas for perimeter, area, and circumference. She required additional time and explicit guidance when solving percentage increase/decrease and more complex algebraic factorisation.
