What do I enjoy most about tutoring? 😁
I particularly enjoy building positive relationships with my students and providing supportive guidance to help them reach their fullest academic potential.
My Strengths as Tutor 💪
Patience and empathy are my greatest strengths as a tutor. I take the time to truly understand each of my student, including their learning styles and individual needs. This allows me to support them in discovering their strengths, building confidence in their learning, and reducing any anxiety they may feel around questions or assessments.
Most important things I can do for a student 🏅
I believe the most important thing a tutor can do for a student is to create a safe, supportive space where they feel comfortable making mistakes and learning from them without the fear of judgment. Mistakes are often where the deepest learning happens, and when students feel safe, they are more willing to take risks, ask questions, and grow from there.

While Imogen understood the concepts well, I'd like to see her slow down and read each question carefully before beginning her working. Some of the more challenging questions required multiple steps, so taking a little extra time to identify what the question is asking and checking her calculations at the end will help improve her accuracy and confidence. This encourages Imogen to reread the question twice and understand correctly what it is asking, hence reducing haste errors or mistakes in her calculations.

Overall, Imogen engaged well with the lesson and showed growing confidence in applying factorisation techniques to more challenging problems. We will continue building on these concepts in future sessions, with a focus on factorising quadratic expressions and solving quadratic equations.
Factorising the difference of two squares. This is a challenging topic, but I can see that Imogen enjoys the challenge and engages positively with the content. Imogen responds very well to feedback and is willing to tackle difficult questions. As she continues to develop her confidence, I would like to encourage her to read each question carefully (ideally more than once) and spend a little more time working through the problem independently before seeking support. This will help strengthen her problem-solving skills and build greater confidence in her own mathematical reasoning. I would also encourage Imogen to make a habit of checking her work before moving on, as this will help her identify small errors and improve her overall accuracy. With continued practice and persistence, I am confident she will continue to make excellent progress.

Imogen worked on expanding algebraic expressions and showed strong confidence with the process. She is beginning to use and become familiar with the FOIL method when expanding double brackets. Imogen is also developing good habits by double-checking her work before submitting it, which is helping improve her accuracy.
Factorising is a challenging skill to develop, particularly when the student is not yet fluent with multiplication facts. This can make it harder to quickly identify common factors and efficiently break expressions into bracket form. Imogen found factorising more difficult during the session. To support her development in this area, I assigned her homework on questions that focus on factorising as well as expanding for additional practice to help build confidence and fluency with the skill. Keep up the great work Imogen!

Imogen is developing confidence in mental maths and is improving her ability to perform calculations mentally. She is also learning to check her working carefully to reduce simple errors and improve accuracy. She is demonstrating a stronger understanding of questions more quickly and is attempting tasks much more efficiently and confidently.
I would like to see Imogen continue to double-check her work and read each question carefully to ensure she fully understands what is being asked, helping to minimise avoidable mistakes.
