What do I enjoy most about tutoring? π
I enjoy the 'lightbulb moment'βthat split second when a student shifts from confusion to clarity. As a Civil Engineering student, I deal with complex maths and physics every day, so I know how intimidating these subjects can look at first glance.
What I love most is taking a concept that a student finds 'impossible' (like calculus or vectors) and breaking it down into simple, real-world pieces until they realize, 'Oh, I can actually do this.' Watching their confidence grow from week to week is incredibly rewarding
My Strengths as Tutor πͺ
I believe my specific strengths are Subject Mastery combined with Patience.
Subject Mastery: Being a 4th-year Engineering Honours student, I don't just know the formulas; I know how they are applied in the real world. This allows me to explain why we are learning a topic, not just how to solve it.
Mentoring & Structure: Unlike many tutors, I have professional experience as a Team Lead for student orientation programs (IHNA). This has taught me how to communicate with diverse learners and be extremely patient. I
Most important things I can do for a student π
Beyond just improving grades, the most important thing a tutor can do is build confidence.
Many students fail maths not because they aren't smart, but because they have 'maths anxiety' and believe they can't do it. A great tutor changes that mindset by creating a safe space to make mistakes.
Secondly, a tutor must teach independent study skills. My goal isn't to be a crutch for the student forever, but to teach them the discipline and problem-solving strategies (like how to break down a question) so they can eventually succeed on their own in exams.
