What do I enjoy most about tutoring? 😁
I can never get enough of that moment when the person you’re helping has the explanation/content finally click in their head. Seeing that progress from when someone’s not particularly confident in their skills to taking on more challenging tasks is so rewarding!
My Strengths as Tutor 💪
I’ve informally tutored my friends in the past for their vce subjects and I think I do best in not only assisting students with lower confidence and technical skills by breaking it down into a methodical analysis of the process, but also by instilling a passion for the subject itself- especially for maths which has a certain beauty to it. To me, it’s all about asking the right questions to guide a student through a hard to navigate process, rather than give all the answers for them. It demonstrates to that student that they actually can take on tough questions, and is so much more rewarding.
Most important things I can do for a student 🏅
Reminding them of where they are in their academic journey to put themselves into perspective. Whether they want to go off to university, further study with the subject they’re being tutored for, or get straight into the workforce, having a student with a healthy outlook on what excelling in school actually means beyond admission into university is important. It’s less about the actual content itself and more about the perseverance it speaks to; to complete more technical subjects means a student can navigate unfamiliar or stressful problems and gave it their all!

About Caitlin
Strong Mathematical Background for School Success
Caitlin is a science student majoring in data science, with a strong focus on advanced mathematics and computing. She completed school with an ATAR above 95 and achieved excellent results in Specialist Mathematics, Mathematical Methods, and Physics, giving her a deep understanding of the concepts students meet in high school. This tutor brings current, real-world maths knowledge into sessions, helping students see how topics like algebra, functions, and problem-solving connect to practical and interesting applications.
Clear Explanations and StepbyStep Support
Although new to formal tutoring, Caitlin has plenty of experience explaining complex ideas to her peers at university, working through problems together and rephrasing explanations until they click. She is patient and calm, and focuses on breaking difficult questions into clear, manageable steps so students don’t feel overwhelmed. This tutor pays close attention to where a student is getting stuck, then adjusts examples and methods to match their way of thinking, building genuine understanding rather than rote learning.
DetailFocused, Reliable and StudentCentred Approach
With a strong attention to detail and a drive for accuracy, Caitlin helps students refine their working, not just their final answers. She prepares thoroughly for sessions, reviewing curriculum topics and creating targeted practice questions that mirror classroom and exam styles. In lessons, she encourages students to talk through their reasoning, so she can correct misconceptions early and celebrate progress. This tutor aims to build confidence as well as marks, giving students practical strategies for tests, homework, and longterm maths improvement.
