What do I enjoy most about tutoring? 😁

Building confidence in students to ensure they have the best resources to thrive on their own in the classroom

My Strengths as Tutor 💪

Relationships building with the students, ensuring they have the tools to perform well in their classes. Differentiated instruction, explaining and framing things in a way that is easily digestible and understandable

Most important things I can do for a student 🏅

I believe confidence is a big enabler or barrier to performance in school. If they have the confidence to be able to attempt answers, contribute in class, and work through questions that they may have struggled with previously. If a tutor can explain things in a way that is understandable, and frame it in a way where the kids have self belief when they get to tests, exams, quizzes or even discussions in class, then I believe they have the tools to succeed. I also think having personalised questions and content delivered 1-on-1 to students helps them in comparison to a one size fits all apprch.

About Riley

Engaging Secondary Teacher with Maths Expertise

Riley is a probationally registered secondary teacher who specialises in Mathematics, Health and Physical Education. He has classroom experience covering general maths classes across a range of schools, ensuring students stay on track even when their usual teacher is away. Riley particularly enjoys 1on1 support, where he can slow concepts down, check for genuine understanding and revisit foundations where needed. His experience writing and delivering clear lesson plans means sessions are structured, purposeful and closely aligned with school expectations.

Strong Relationships and Confidence-Building Focus

This tutor places relationships at the centre of learning. Riley is known for quickly building trust with students, which helps even hesitant learners feel comfortable asking questions and admitting when they are stuck. He uses explicit instruction and differentiated tasks so each student works at the right level of challenge, not just the class average. In tutoring, he focuses on small wins—like mastering a tricky algebra step or completing a full problem set—to steadily build confidence that carries back into the classroom.

Clear Communication and Tailored Support for Every Learner

Riley’s background in Health and Physical Education gives him a strong understanding of how motivation, wellbeing and learning all connect, which he brings into his maths tutoring. He is used to managing full classes, adjusting explanations on the spot and keeping students engaged through a mix of verbal, visual and practical examples. In 1on1 sessions he draws on these skills to break down complex ideas into manageable steps, set realistic goals with students, and keep parents informed about progress and next steps.
