What do I enjoy most about tutoring? ๐Ÿ˜

Iโ€™ve always adored being able to help someone understand a question that they were stuck on. It is simply that face of joy when they finally solve it that brings me so much satisfaction and happiness knowing that I could help them get there. With younger year levels, I love being able to help students widen their interests through my own knowledge and guidance.

My Strengths as Tutor ๐Ÿ’ช

I am extremely patient. I build myself around the idea that it is never the studentsโ€™ fault if they donโ€™t understand, but rather the teacher should problem solve and introduce another way to teach them to help them learn. Each and every student is different, so a tutor needs to be adaptive, which is something that Iโ€™ve had practice with at university as well as placement.

Most important things I can do for a student ๐Ÿ…

At the minimum, a tutor should be able to work together with a student in a way that is the most effective for them. Additionally, they should be able to support them through a subject but also, expand them on what they already know to allow for their interests and knowledge to thrive. A tutor should have some sort of level of duty of care; different from a teacher but knowing when a student can be encouraged outside their comfort zone and know what their limits are.

About Tian Lu

Future Primary & Secondary Teacher with Strong Academic Foundation

Tian is currently studying a Bachelor of Primary and Secondary Education (Honours), giving her a solid grounding in how children and teenagers learn best. With an ATAR in the high 80s, she understands what is required to succeed in school and can translate that into clear, practical guidance for students. Her major in psychology helps her recognise different learning styles and support students who may lack confidence, especially in English and humanities subjects.

Leadership and Creativity in School Enrichment Activities

At school, Tian was Technology Club Vice Captain and contributed to the school magazine as an artist and editor, experiences that strengthened her communication, organisation and creative thinking. She also took part in Model UN and school productions, so she is comfortable helping students with presentations, speeches and written assignments. These activities show that she can make learning more engaging, using creative tasks and real-world examples to keep primary and high school students interested.

Multilingual Communicator Who Connects with Students

Tian is a native speaker of both Mandarin and English and can also hold conversations in Japanese, making her especially helpful for students from multilingual households or those learning English as an additional language. She is described as friendly, outgoing and well-organised, and brings these qualities into her tutoring by breaking tasks into manageable steps and explaining concepts in simple, clear language. This tutor aims to build not only skills, but also confidence and enjoyment in learning.
