Sarah is a recent high school graduate who achieved an ATAR above 90, with particular strength in mathematics and chemistry. She is currently studying vision science and optometry, so she uses maths and problem-solving every day. Because she has just come through the system herself, she understands current curricula, assessment styles and the pressure students feel. This tutor uses that insight to break down tricky ideas into manageable steps and show students exactly how to approach exam-style questions.
Sarah has extensive experience using a CAS calculator to tackle complex maths problems efficiently, and she teaches students how to use this tool strategically rather than just “press buttons”. She focuses on building understanding first, then reinforcing it with guided practice and worked examples. Drawing on her strong numeracy and communication skills, she explains concepts in more than one way, checks for real understanding, and helps students develop their own set of methods and shortcuts they can rely on in tests.
Having experienced both confusing and effective tutoring herself, Sarah is very intentional about being patient and approachable. She takes time to find where a student is stuck, then rebuilds their confidence with small wins and clear goals. Her experience working with a wide range of people has strengthened her communication and reliability, so parents can expect consistency and professionalism. For families who need it, she can also support Korean-speaking students, making maths more accessible and less intimidating.

Although Ava was a little bit confused with the new concept at the start, at the end, she grasped the content well and was able to find the perimeter of very complex shapes (yin yang shape and 3/4 of a circle). With more practise, Ava shouldn't find these questions too difficult!
Ava was a little confused on "correct the answer to ___ decimal place" and hesitated a little bit at the start with calculating circumference.
Ava has a good understanding of algebra as a whole, and she is able to do most of the questions without any trouble.

She struggles with the challenge questions but not because she dosn't know how to do it- because she has never done those questions before. Once she understands, she can tackle challenge questions easily.

She sometimes forgets certain concepts but it comes back to her with a reminder. However, as algebra is a new concept to her, this is completely normal and shouldn't be an issue in the future.
Ava already had a pretty good understanding on algebra and "finding the unknown" in an equation.

Some worded questions can confuse her. However, with practise and more experience, this shouldn't be an issue.
