What do I enjoy most about tutoring? 😁

While I don't have experience in tutoring in a commercial setting, I often tutor my younger siblings and cousins in my immediate and extended family. My favourite thing I enjoy the most whenever I tutor them is seeing that 'lightbulb' moment in their head when they finally are able to understand a concept that was confusing for them and also maybe gain a new appreciation for a subject that I'm passionate about or just fall in love with the idea of learning in general.

My Strengths as Tutor 💪

I'm patient when it comes to tutoring and can understand from personal experience that when learning something new, it can get demotivating and frustrating if the concept isn't clicking, so I aim to provide an environment where my student knows its okay if they don't get it first try and encourage them to keep trying until they do. I also often try thinking up alternative ways of how to explain a concept since from experience people learn in different ways. So my goal is try to make the content more digestible for my student and explain it in a way that might make it easier to understand.

Most important things I can do for a student 🏅

For me, the most important things a tutor could do for a student, is not teach them the material but rather teach them transferrable skills that can help them tackle any material thrown at them. Like for example in English class, if they are studying unfamiliar text I don't want to teach students to study like specific texts on past exams, but rather teach students what kind of thinking and questions they should ask and how to answer regardless what text is thrown at them. But also to encourage the love of learning and keep trying so even if they are hitting a road block they wont give up.
