Some of the most important things a tutor can do for a student is to set them up for success by giving them all the required methods and approaches to solve problems, and not just giving specific steps to follow in order to solve certain problems, but allowing the to use their own thinking to solve problems given the tools provided by the tutor. Another important thing is to teach them to approach problems not just on paper but real world problems that require alternate and different approaches and thinking.
