What do I enjoy most about tutoring? 😁
I enjoy that every lesson is different, whether it’s new topics or different types of questions. I also really enjoy helping others and find it satisfying to support someone in becoming more confident in their learning. Seeing their improvement and understanding develop is what motivates me most.
My Strengths as Tutor 💪
I am organised, and I like to prepare thoroughly so sessions run smoothly and productively. I am also patient and happy to go over concepts as many times as needed, using different approaches to help students understand.
Having experienced tutoring from a student’s perspective allows me to understand what students need and how to support them effectively. Additionally, my mentoring experience, such as supporting Yr 7 students as they adjusted to high school and mentoring a small group on a year-long project, has strengthened my ability to guide and connect with students.
Most important things I can do for a student 🏅
I believe one of the most important things a tutor can do is build a student’s confidence and help them enjoy the subject. From personal experience and observation, confidence and enjoyment play a significant role in motivation, leading to improved engagement and performance.
I also think it’s important for tutors to create a comfortable learning environment where students feel comfortable in asking questions, while also helping them develop strong study habits and problem-solving skills they can use independently and across various subjects.

About Laurentia
Emerging STEM Tutor with Strong Academic Drive
Laurentia is a high-achieving senior student who is moving into an engineering degree, giving her a strong foundation in Maths and logical problem-solving. Her recognition in applied information technology and inclusion in an honours program show that she consistently performs in the top range of her classes and can explain complex ideas clearly. This tutor understands the pressures of school assessments first-hand and uses that insight to break work into manageable steps for both primary and high school students.
Experienced Peer Mentor and Student Leader
Laurentia has practical experience supporting younger students through formal school leadership roles. As a Peer Support Leader, she mentored groups of new high school students, helping them adjust to routines, homework and study expectations. She later guided a group through a year-long project as an I3 mentor, building their planning and time-management skills. As Technology Captain, she regularly helped classmates with digital tools, which translates well into explaining concepts patiently and tailoring explanations to different learning styles.
Calm, Organised and Great with Kids in Busy Settings
Beyond the classroom, Laurentia has completed over 100 hours of volunteering, including helping run a large children’s choir event where she calmly guided primary students to the right places and coordinated with teachers. This shows she can manage groups, keep students on task, and communicate clearly with adults. Parents can expect a tutor who arrives prepared, keeps sessions structured but friendly, and helps students build confidence through clear goals and steady, encouraging feedback.
