I also really enjoy helping others and find it satisfying to support someone in becoming more confident in their learning. I am organised, and I like to prepare thoroughly so sessions run smoothly and productively. I am also patient and happy to go over concepts as many times as needed, using different approaches to help students understand. Having experienced tutoring from a student’s perspective allows me to understand what students need and how to support them effectively. I believe one of the most important things a tutor can do is build a student’s confidence and help them enjoy the subject. From personal experience and observation, confidence and enjoyment play a significant role in motivation, leading to improved engagement and performance. Laurentia has practical experience supporting younger students through formal school leadership roles. She later guided a group through a year-long project as an I3 mentor, building their planning and time-management skills.
