What do I enjoy most about tutoring? 😁

I enjoy seeing people understand topics that they didn't beforehand, and seeing that makes it very rewarding to be of assistance. I also enjoy the challenge of trying to break things down and simplify it in different ways to help.

My Strengths as Tutor 💪

I think my strengths are I focus more on the understanding of a concept rather than the memorisation of it, as I have never been good with memorising anything, but I have tried different ways to understand a concept, and I find that this is vital to progress deeper in studies for certain areas, such as maths.

Most important things I can do for a student 🏅

I think the most important thing a tutor can do is to be patient and giving a student time to grasp a concept, not rushing them to try to pick things up instantly. I also think that as a tutor, I should be able to adapt my explanations, to cater to a student's needs, such as using diagrams/graphs, or explaining things metaphorically.

About Zane

High-achieving maths and science student with proven results

Zane is a high-performing university engineering and science student with a strong background in Maths, achieving an ATAR in the mid-90s and scoring in the top 1% in a national maths competition. His studies in applied mathematics and engineering mean he can clearly explain everything from fractions and algebra to more advanced problem-solving. This tutor focuses on building strong foundations, showing students step by step how to break down tricky questions so they feel confident in class and in exams.

Clear communicator and experienced peer trainer

Through his roles as a trainer in busy, fast-paced workplaces, Zane has coached many new team members, learning how to explain instructions clearly, adjust to different learning speeds, and keep people calm under pressure. He brings this same style to tutoring: patient, structured and practical. He checks for understanding, uses simple language first, then builds up to harder ideas, helping both primary and high school students feel comfortable asking questions and learning from their mistakes.

Strategic thinker, chess champion and engaging mentor

As a multiple-time state and national chess champion, Zane has spent years teaching himself and others how to think logically, plan ahead and stay focused – skills he weaves into his tutoring. He often uses puzzles, real-life examples and strategy-style thinking to make maths more engaging, especially for students who enjoy games or technology. This tutor is organised, reliable and goal-focused, helping students set clear targets and track their progress over time.
