What do I enjoy most about tutoring? 😁
I like helping people and my childhood dream was to be a teacher so this is one step closer for me. When studying for myself, I usually pretend I'm tutoring someone as it allows me to deepen my understanding as well as recognise any gaps in my learning. The concept of explaining and having someone understand what I'm teaching them is an extremely validating experience and I am grateful to know that I helped someone.
My Strengths as Tutor 💪
I believe that I'm a very patient individual and I have the ability to connect and simplify difficult concepts to help a student better understand a concept at its root. I work well with children and other students as I can see myself in them and thus know how to approach any issues they may have. I am resourceful, so if I deem that a method isn't working for a student then I can easily switch approaches to one that is more considerate of them.
Most important things I can do for a student 🏅
Having patience and being able to help outside of tutoring hours, as well as being able to connect with the student on a level where they are comfortable expressing their doubts and concerns regarding a subject. It's also very important to me that before actually teaching, I understand what the students main issues are with the subject and try my best to simplify and efficiently teach the concepts to them in a manner they understand. After all, having all the knowledge isn't important if one is unable to pass on that information to another.
