What do I enjoy most about tutoring? π
What I enjoy most is seeing a student's confidence grow as they understand a challenging concept. There's nothing quite like that "aha!" moment, whether it's in English when a grammar rule finally clicks, or in Maths when a complex problem becomes clear. It's incredibly rewarding to help them overcome their struggles and witness their personal progress, not just academically but also in their self-belief. Knowing I've played a part in making learning enjoyable and empowering is truly fulfilling.
My Strengths as Tutor πͺ
My biggest strengths as a tutor are adaptability and empathy. I've worked with a lot of different students, including those with diverse learning needs. Teaching English overseas, often with learners who had no prior knowledge, highlights my ability to adapt teaching methods to any starting point and cultural context. I'm good at breaking down topics into understandable parts and explaining them in a way that the student understands. I'm a good listener and I think it's important to truly understand where they're getting stuck and build their confidence.
Most important things I can do for a student π
I believe a tutor's most important roles are personalised understanding, building self-belief and empowering independent learning. It's crucial to understand each student, their challenges and motivations to learn. A great tutor adapts their approach to fit the student's needs. Building confidence is vital, helping students see their own capabilities, empowering them to tackle challenges, and showing consistent effort leads to success. Finally, independent learning is key. The goal isn't just completing the tasks, but providing them with strategies and critical thinking skills.

About Kolfinna
Experienced Primary Teacher with a Warm, Calm Presence
Kolfinna is a qualified primary teacher with hands-on experience teaching Years 6 and 7, mainly in English, maths and social studies. She plans and delivers engaging lessons, creates her own assessments, and keeps parents in the loop with regular, clear communication. In the classroom she is known for her calm, organised approach and her ability to build strong rapport with students. This tutor brings the same structure and care into one-to-one sessions, helping school content finally βclickβ for each child.
Strong Support for Diverse Learners and Additional Needs
Kolfinna has worked closely with students who have ADHD, dyslexia and autism, as well as bilingual learners adjusting to a new language. As both a classroom teacher and teaching assistant, she has provided tailored one-to-one support, broken tasks into manageable steps, and used visual aids and games to keep learning accessible and enjoyable. Her background in psychology and peer education helps her understand behaviour, self-esteem and motivation, so she can gently guide students who may be anxious, easily distracted, or lacking confidence.
Global Teaching Experience and Engaging Learning Style
Beyond formal school settings, this tutor has led after-school programs for 6β8 year olds, organised excursions as a group leader, and delivered workshops to teens on topics such as peer pressure and self-esteem. She has also volunteered in several international teaching projects, including English lessons for children and adults and educational workshops for girls. Kolfinnaβs lessons often weave in real-world examples and interactive activities, so students are not just memorising for tests but genuinely understanding and enjoying English and maths.
