What do I enjoy most about tutoring? 😁

I really enjoy being able to explain things to someone and visibly see how it clicks in their brain when they suddenly get it - it really makes me feel very warm inside when the penny suddenly drops and they go "ohhhhhh", which is really enjoyable to see from students

My Strengths as Tutor πŸ’ͺ

I really like making a casual and informal space to learn is really effective, as it allows people to ask for help more naturally. I remember all throughout my degree and my schoolwork that I would be afraid of speaking up for help for fear that I would be mocked for not knowing it, so I really want to create a nice welcoming environment for learning where people can feel free to ask for help and not feel like they're stupid for not knowing something already, especially if it's something small and simple that they might have merely forgotten.

Most important things I can do for a student πŸ…

I think making students feel like they're being seen and heard is a really powerful thing, and to make clear that a tutor isn't just a fixed resource like a book or a video but someone you can interact with and learn from just from someone being there to guide you. I think learning from someone showing you is so much more powerful than just learning from someone lecturing you, and I think that is something that's really important in tutoring

About Jamie

Masters-Level Physics Expertise Made Accessible

Jamie holds a Masters degree in Physics and brings that deep subject knowledge into clear, down-to-earth explanations for school students. He is used to breaking complex ideas into manageable steps, whether it’s algebra, equations of motion, or tricky problem-solving. Jamie enjoys tackling challenging puzzles, and he uses that same patient, logical approach to help students untangle confusing Maths and Science topics, building both understanding and confidence along the way.

Hands-On Teaching Experience with Real Students

As a university casual academic, Jamie has tutored students in both physical laboratories and Python coding workshops, guiding learners through experiments, data analysis and structured problem-solving. This tutor is comfortable answering questions on the spot, adapting explanations to different learning styles, and checking that each student truly β€œgets it” before moving on. Parents can expect carefully paced sessions where Jamie actively checks understanding rather than just lecturing.

Relatable, Tech-Savvy Tutor Who Connects with Teens

Jamie’s interests in video games, board games and music help him connect naturally with younger learners, especially high school students who may be wary of Maths or Science. He often uses real-life and game-style examples to explain ideas like probability, logic and graphs, making abstract concepts feel more familiar. With strong computer and Python skills, this tutor can also support students who are beginning coding or using technology in their schoolwork, keeping lessons engaging and relevant.
