What do I enjoy most about tutoring? ๐Ÿ˜

I am very passionate about education, and love seeing my students grow to acheive their goals. It is very rewarding to see how my help can further someone's knowledge and skills, especially when they get an "ah-ha!" moment, get their desired mark, or simply are happy with their progress. I felt this when I taught sailing as well, as later during the camp week, the kids would get to sail on their own. It was incredible to see the students that knew nothing about sailing a few days ago be so independent.

My Strengths as Tutor ๐Ÿ’ช

I believe that I am patient and good at explaining. I understand that things may very well not click the first time, as I have been in that position in the classroom, and will be very happy to look at a concept or proplem from many different angles and mindsets until my student and I find something that works. I also think that I am adaptable to different students and learning styles to support every individual they way they need.

Most important things I can do for a student ๐Ÿ…

I think the most important thing a tutor can do is listen. It is very important to be tuned in to how your student is doing and how they feel about their work. If the work is way too hard or way too easy, not as much progress will be seen. To help the students as best as possible, you must understand their current level, what they want or need to acheive, and how they learn best. If you listen and keep a keen eye on the student, you can adapt what and how you teach to best suit them. Doing this, you may also find new strengths and weaknesses along the way.

About Genevieve

Experienced Peer Tutor in Maths and Science

Genevieve is a high-achieving senior student who has already spent several months volunteering as a peer tutor for students in Years 7โ€“9, mainly in mathematics and science. In these sessions she helps classmates break down tricky concepts, prepares practice questions and guides them step by step through homework and revision. This tutor understands the school curriculum from a studentโ€™s perspective and knows where common misunderstandings occur, making her especially effective at explaining topics in clear, relatable ways.

Proven Youth Instructor with Strong Leadership Skills

Beyond the classroom, Genevieve has worked as a sailing instructor, teaching children and teenagers while being responsible for their safety on and off the water. This role has sharpened her ability to give calm, clear instructions, manage groups and keep students engaged even when tasks feel challenging. As a school prefect, she has also helped run student events and supported younger year groups, showing reliability, maturity and a natural ability to connect with kids.

Academic Strengths and Personal Approach

Genevieve studies advanced English and mathematics, along with physics and chemistry, giving her a strong base to support both primary and high school learners. She has also achieved top results in German and speaks multiple languages, which helps her explain ideas from different angles. In lessons she likes to use real-life examples from sport and music, drawing on her basketball and drumming experience to keep explanations lively and memorable, while steadily building each studentโ€™s confidence and independence.
