What do I enjoy most about tutoring? 😁
What I enjoy most about tutoring is seeing that moment when things finally click for a student. It’s really rewarding to watch students gain confidence, and realise they’re actually capable of much more than they thought.
My Strengths as Tutor 💪
My main strengths as a tutor are my strong subject knowledge and my ability to explain concepts clearly in a way that suits each student. Through my previous experience assisting with undergraduate teaching, supporting tutorials, and guiding students through quantitative and statistical concepts, I’ve learned how to break down complex material into simple, logical steps. I’m also patient and approachable, which helps students feel comfortable asking questions, and I focus on building their confidence rather than just giving answers.
Most important things I can do for a student 🏅
The most important thing a tutor can do is support students in a way that builds their confidence, not makes them feel like they’re lacking. Helping them understand concepts without making them feel judged or “behind†is key. A good tutor creates a safe, comfortable space where students feel okay to ask questions, and make mistakes.
Building a good rapport really matters too. When students trust you and feel understood, they’re more engaged and open to learning.

About Kavindi Kithmihiri
Expert Maths & Statistics Support from a High-Achieving Data Science Tutor
Kavindi is a master’s student in Data Science with a first-class honours degree in Business Statistics, making her especially strong in Maths and Statistics for high school and advanced students. She has excelled in subjects such as probability, inferential statistics and experimental design, and was recognised with awards for achieving the highest results in these areas. This tutor brings that same depth of understanding into lessons, helping students move beyond memorising formulas to truly understanding how and why methods work.
University Teaching Experience Made Simple for School Students
As an assistant lecturer, she has delivered tutorials in Fundamental Mathematics, Descriptive Statistics, Probability Distribution Theory and Statistical Quality Control to undergraduate classes. She regularly breaks down complex ideas into step-by-step explanations and guides students through structured problem-solving exercises. Drawing on this experience, she adapts university-style rigour to suit school curriculums, creating clear notes, targeted practice questions and calm, individual guidance so students can build confidence at their own pace.
Analytical, Encouraging Approach with Real-World Connections
With strong skills in Python and statistical software, this tutor enjoys showing students how Maths links to real-world questions, from quality control in factories to analysing trends in everyday data. Her research on student stress has also made her sensitive to the pressures young people face, so she pays attention to workload, mindset and exam preparation strategies. Parents can expect a tutor who is organised, academically sharp and able to turn abstract Maths and Statistics into practical, engaging learning.
