What do I enjoy most about tutoring? 😁

I always had a passion for helping people, and love to see results within my work. Teaching providing me a practical and tangible way to help students grow, which I view is the most enjoyable aspect.

My Strengths as Tutor 💪

Working as a Junior Tennis Coach at Northcote Tennis for over 2 years has allowed me to develop my communication skills with school aged children (especially primary school aged children), allowing me to effectively communicate to different ages and maturity, important in ensuring smooth classes and operations.

Most important things I can do for a student 🏅

The most important thing a tutor can do for a student is to provide a supportive environment where students feel comfortable to go outside their comfort zone and grow, both emotionally and academically.

About Michael

Strong academic foundation in Maths and English

Michael has recently completed secondary school with a strong focus on English and higher-level Mathematics, including Maths Methods. He has been recognised with awards for outstanding academic results across multiple years, showing consistent effort rather than one-off success. This tutor understands current school expectations first-hand and can clearly explain concepts step by step, especially for students who find Maths or English challenging. Michael aims to build confidence as well as marks, helping students feel prepared for tests and assignments.

Coaching experience with younger learners

Through his work as a tennis coach, Michael regularly teaches primary-aged children at beginner and intermediate levels. He breaks skills into simple, repeatable steps and uses positive feedback to keep kids engaged, even when they’re struggling. This hands-on coaching experience means he already knows how to manage different personalities, short attention spans, and mixed ability groups. He brings the same structured, encouraging approach to tutoring, adjusting explanations until each student truly understands.

Calm, organised and relatable role model

Michael’s experience in busy front-desk and customer-facing roles has strengthened his communication, patience and attention to detail. He is used to following routines, managing time carefully and keeping information organised – skills he brings into planning lessons and tracking a student’s progress. Outside of study, he enjoys tennis, mixed martial arts, mountain biking and flying drones, which helps him connect with active and tech-interested students. This tutor offers a calm, friendly presence and a practical, down-to-earth style that many school-aged learners respond well to.
