What do I enjoy most about tutoring? 😁
What I enjoy most about tutoring is helping students gain confidence in mathematics and seeing the moment when a concept suddenly “clicks†for them. Many students approach maths with anxiety, so I find it rewarding to break concepts down into manageable steps and show them that they are capable of understanding and succeeding. I also enjoy building positive learning relationships and tailoring my teaching approach to each student’s learning style so they feel supported and motivated.
My Strengths as Tutor 💪
My strengths as a tutor include clear communication, patience, and adaptability. Having taught Grade 10 mathematics at St Peter's School and worked informally with students for several years in coaching centers and private tutoring, I have learned how to explain concepts in multiple ways depending on a student’s needs. I am skilled at identifying gaps in understanding and creating structured, step-by-step explanations that make complex topics approachable. I also focus on building a supportive learning environment where students feel comfortable asking questions.
Most important things I can do for a student 🏅
The most important things a tutor can do are to build confidence, develop strong foundational understanding, and encourage independent problem-solving. A tutor should not only help students complete current coursework but also equip them with strategies to think critically and approach unfamiliar problems independently. Creating a safe and positive environment where mistakes are treated as learning opportunities is also essential, as this helps students become more resilient and engaged in their learning.
