What do I enjoy most about tutoring? 😁

I enjoy helping a student overcome challenges that they face in academics through trying different methods of teaching and seeing which works the best for them.

My Strengths as Tutor πŸ’ͺ

I have a very strong background in maths (1st class university honors) from a red brick university. In this study I have overcome many problems myself that students often face, allowing me to be better equipped to help a student when a challenge comes up.

Most important things I can do for a student πŸ…

In my experience, creating a positive learning environment is a crucial role for any tutor. This is because in academic subjects and especially Mathematics, learning is often dependent on the student being comfortable enough to attempt questions without fear of getting it incorrect. I have found this occurs much more commonly in a positive learning environment.

About Louie

High-achieving maths specialist with proven results

Louie is a high-achieving maths graduate with a strong academic record across school and university, giving him a deep understanding of the curriculum from primary through to A-Level. He has several years of experience as a private maths tutor, helping students move from uncertainty to consistently strong results and greater confidence. Louie is skilled at breaking down tricky concepts into simple steps, and he adapts explanations so they make sense to each individual student, not just the β€œaverage” class member.

Classroom support and small-group teaching experience

As a maths teaching assistant, Louie worked closely with teachers to support lessons, run small-group activities, and give targeted help to students who were struggling. He has experience guiding learners through exam-style questions, homework, and revision planning, always focusing on building understanding rather than memorising shortcuts. This tutor is used to working with a wide range of abilities, from those needing to plug gaps in core skills to students aiming for top grades.

Coaching mindset and calm, structured approach

Alongside tutoring, Louie has coached boxing at both school and university level, designing training sessions, setting goals, and keeping young people motivated in a safe environment. This coaching experience shapes his tutoring style: sessions are structured, progress is tracked, and students are encouraged to push themselves without feeling overwhelmed. With training in first aid, safeguarding awareness, and conflict resolution, he brings a calm, responsible presence that helps students feel comfortable asking questions and staying engaged.
