What do I enjoy most about tutoring? 😁

What I enjoy most about tutoring is seeing improvement from the students that I teach. Seeing them go from not being able to understand a concept at all or having trouble with a question, to showing me that they grasped the concept and are now explaining to me how they got their solution is a truly rewarding experience for me as their tutor.

My Strengths as Tutor šŸ’Ŗ

I think my biggest strength as a tutor would be that I’m an attentive listener who is able to resonate and relate to my students. From my own experience as a primary/high school student, I understand that not everyone is naturally able to understand and do well in a subject straight away, and relate the feelings of fear and discouragement when stuck on a difficult task. As a result, I’m able to work closely with my students, identifying the root of their struggles, and then eventually helping them understand and succeed in their learning.

Most important things I can do for a student šŸ…

I think the most important thing a tutor can do for a student is to build a strong, trusting and supportive environment in which they can learn and ask questions without fear of judgement. When students feel supported, they take risks in their problem solving, are not afraid to make mistakes and are more likely to be honest and tell you what they are actually having trouble with. In this environment, they are able to build their own self-esteem, are encouraged with their ability to learn, and as a result, help turn difficult tasks more manageable for the student.
