What do I enjoy most about tutoring? 😁

What I enjoy most about tutoring is seeing a student move from confusion to confidence on a topic they once found intimidating. It is very satisfying to break down a complex idea into clear, simple steps and watch it suddenly “click†for them. I also really value building one-on-one relationships, where I can adapt my explanations and examples to a student’s learning style rather than using a one-size-fits-all approach. Finally, tutoring keeps me sharp as well, it forces me to revisit fundamentals, think carefully about how I communicate, and continually improve the way I explain.

My Strengths as Tutor 💪

My key strengths as a tutor are my ability to break down complex mathematical concepts into clear, manageable steps. I excel at adapting explanations to different learning styles, whether through visual aids, real-world examples, or structured problem-solving, based on my experience mentoring junior analysts at Deloitte, where I guided teams through challenging data tasks. Finally, I am patient, encouraging, and results-focused, consistently helping others build confidence and achieve measurable improvements.

Most important things I can do for a student 🏅

I think the most important things a tutor can do for a student are to build confidence, personalise learning, and teach them how to learn independently. A good tutor creates a safe space where it is okay to make mistakes, ask questions, and move at the student’s pace, because confidence usually comes before better marks. Finally, beyond helping with specific questions, I believe a tutor should focus on study skills, problem-solving strategies, and consistent habits so the student gradually relies less on the tutor and can tackle new challenges on their own.

About Jhinuk

Strong Maths Background with Real-World Problem-Solving

Jhinuk brings a rigorous quantitative background to her tutoring, built through an engineering degree and a Master of Business Administration with coursework in data analytics, finance and economics. She has studied advanced maths topics such as calculus, linear algebra, probability and statistics, and uses these foundations daily in her analytical work. This tutor is comfortable breaking down complex ideas into clear, stepbystep explanations, helping students move beyond memorising formulas to actually understanding how and why maths works.

Experienced Mentor Who Builds Structured Thinking

In her professional roles, Jhinuk has led and mentored teams of junior analysts, guiding them through over 3,000 hours of detailed data work. She has trained newcomers, designed structured problemsolving approaches and coached others to handle challenging tasks independently. This experience translates directly into her tutoring style: she shows students how to organise their working, check their logic, and approach tricky questions calmly and methodically, skills that are especially valuable for exam preparation in both primary and high school.

Clear Communicator Who Makes Maths Less Intimidating

Jhinuk is used to presenting complex information to a wide range of people, from technical teams to senior decisionmakers, often using visuals and reallife examples to make numbers meaningful. In tutoring sessions, she uses similar techniques—such as breaking word problems into everyday situations and using simple diagrams—to help students connect maths to the real world. She focuses on building confidence step by step, celebrating small wins and encouraging students to ask questions so they feel comfortable and supported while they improve.
