What do I enjoy most about tutoring? 😁
I enjoy creating a positive and supportive learning environment where students feel comfortable asking questions and exploring new ideas. It is very meaningful to be able to contribute, even in a small way, to a student’s future and academic growth. Tutoring is also rewarding for me personally, as it allows me to develop valuable communication and teaching skills that I might not gain in many other roles. The most fulfilling moments are when students start to understand the material better and begin to see learning as something engaging and enjoyable rather than stressful.
My Strengths as Tutor 💪
Through my experiences at university and in professional settings, I have developed strengths such as being hardworking, organized, and proactive in managing my responsibilities. I am open to learning new approaches and value listening to different perspectives.
Most important things I can do for a student 🏅
Clear communication, respect, and patience are essential in tutoring. I believe it is important to create a safe and supportive environment where students feel comfortable expressing what they do not understand. Encouraging and motivating them, while also being a good listener, allows lessons to be adapted to their individual needs. I also believe that teachers and tutors play a significant role in shaping a student’s young mind, which can influence their future and the way they think. While maintaining a positive relationship with parents is important, I also aim to build a trusting relationship with my students where they see me as a supportive mentor, friend, or guide rather than someone intimidating, so they feel comfortable asking questions and engaging in the learning process.

About Chelsea
Background
This tutor is currently studying at the University of Western Australia, majoring in Biochemistry of Nutrition. She chose this field because of her strong interest in understanding cells and DNA, and how factors such as nutrition, lifestyle, and food intake influence what happens inside the human body. Through her dedication and perseverance in her studies, she was selected as a candidate for a third-year research project under a professor working on the “Plants for Space” project. She is known for her friendly and calm nature, as well as being organized and reliable, qualities that shape the way she approaches both her studies and her work with students.
Fluency in Different Languages
She is fluent in both English and Indonesian, and also has a basic understanding of Chinese. This multilingual ability has strengthened her communication skills, allowing her to explain concepts clearly and adapt her explanations to suit different students. It also enables her to connect with families who may be more comfortable speaking these languages, while being mindful and respectful of different cultural backgrounds.
Experiences
She has also completed an internship as a Community Education Intern, where she taught small groups of Year 12 ATAR Biology students in a laboratory setting, specifically introducing them to PCR techniques. This experience helped her develop her teaching skills and better understand how to guide students through complex concepts, while also adapting her approach to support each student’s learning needs. In addition, her involvement in university clubs and activities has helped her become more proactive, collaborative, and confident while developing strong communication and leadership skills.
