What do I enjoy most about tutoring? 😁
The connection that comes from having a shared interest and playing it out together and or engaging with it together (tho shared interest is not necessarily part of tutoring) , the connection and relief that comes of realising that my attempt to make something in my mind understood by another was successful , being useful to someone’s attempt to make things better , (statement continued in section 2 of the last question.)My Strengths as Tutor 💪
Well versed in the subject matter, a love of the subjects, personal experience with many of their irksome, upsetting and or challenging aspects, a vocabulary that I find delightfully useful and extensive, my memory of how life was from age 2yr-18+ yr is still good, when I was growing up I had plenty of friends my own age and younger and older and from many different circles and still do so I’m still familiar with talking to people 7yr+ and comfortable talking to lots of different people, (statement continues in section 3 of the last question)Most important things I can do for a student 🏅
Doing the right thing. and the prospect of doing my job well enough for my student to feel that things are going well for them, that there day is a little lighter, that they’re on a roll, and that the ways of improving their life that they can think of are enticing and not deterrent. I’ve got a lot of experience viewing math concepts through multiple perspectives, I’m imaginative, I’ve worked closely with many adults who’s ages ranged from 20s-50s + as a coach I interacted with many of the gymnasts parents, I’m well rounded and on occassion very funny.Tutoring students in 👦 👧

About Alexander
Active maths coach with strong academic results
Alexander is a mathematically minded tutor who has consistently achieved high results in advanced maths through secondary school, including a distinction in a national mathematics competition, placing him in the top quarter of his cohort. He enjoys helping students see patterns and logic in problems, not just memorise steps. This tutor focuses on building solid foundations, especially for students in Years 5–10, using clear explanations and step-by-step reasoning that helps anxious learners gain confidence with numbers.
Real coaching experience with younger students
Alexander brings hands-on coaching experience from organising and teaching PE classes and obstacle courses for Year 1–2 students as a school house captain, as well as coaching a range of gymnastics and parkour classes. He is used to breaking skills into manageable parts, giving specific feedback, and keeping sessions fun and active. This tutor is comfortable managing groups of different ages and abilities, and transfers those skills into tutoring by using practical examples, movement-based explanations and plenty of encouragement.
Engaging, creative and relatable tutor
Outside the classroom, Alexander has worked as a stage actor and collaborative playwright, which helps him explain concepts in engaging, story-like ways that keep students interested. He has also volunteered at a school breakfast club, giving him experience building rapport with students in informal settings.
