What do I enjoy most about tutoring? 😁

The thing I most enjoy about tutoring is knowing that I am using my knowledge and experience to make kids’ lives easier. I know struggling in school can be difficult and stressful for parents and students alike, so I feel satisfaction in knowing that I am helping make a difference for families.

My Strengths as Tutor 💪

A key chatacteristic that makes me a good tutor is my adaptability and capacity to change the flow and style of my teaching according to how the student best learns. Working with kids can be challenging since each of them have their own ways of grasping information, so as a tutor, it is important to adapt your teaching to the student rather than expecting the student to adapt to you. Other skills that make me fit for the role are my ability to work under pressure, emotional regulation, and academic excellence.

Most important things I can do for a student 🏅

The most important thing a tutor can do for a student is be patient with them. Teaching children can be stressful, especially when it comes to teaching what we consider to be « basic math », but it is important to remember that not understanding a topic is frustrating for the student as well. So being calm, going over the same topic in different ways, attempting different methods of teaching, and not giving up makes a key difference for the student.

About Michelle

Strong Communicator with a Love of Teaching

Michelle is an economics student who genuinely enjoys explaining ideas clearly and simply, making her a great fit for school-age learners. She has developed strong communication and organisational skills through her studies and work, and she brings these directly into her tutoring. Michelle focuses on breaking Maths and English concepts into manageable steps and checking understanding along the way, so students don’t feel rushed or overwhelmed, but instead gain real confidence in what they are learning.

Mentoring and Working with Children

With hands-on experience working with children and mentoring others, Michelle understands how to adapt her approach to different personalities and learning styles. She is used to guiding younger learners, setting small, achievable goals, and celebrating progress to keep motivation high. In sessions, she uses practical examples, short practice tasks and regular feedback to help students stay engaged and see where they are improving in Maths and English.

Structured, Supportive Learning Approach

Michelle’s background as an analyst has sharpened her ability to spot patterns and problem-solve, which she brings into tutoring by quickly identifying where a student is getting stuck. She plans lessons with a clear structure: quick review, focused practice, then a short recap so new skills are locked in. Michelle also teaches simple study and organisation techniques, like checklists and time-planning for homework, helping students become more independent and prepared for tests and assignments.
