What do I enjoy most about tutoring? 😁

The reason I've privately tutored in one-on-one sessions instead of small groups is because I feel that really connecting with a student is half of the job. Seeing long term students thrive is incredibly rewarding. With niche difficulties my students were experiencing, I’d often customise and write my own word problems that incorporated their interests. Two years ago, I had a year 5 student obsessed with pokemon. I customised the pictographs (which we were learning at the time) to include his ideal pokemon team. This helps an enormous amount in cultivating a growth mindset in a student.

My Strengths as Tutor 💪

I am well versed in primary curriculums, and have taught children that have attended multiple schools in both the Canterbury and Campbelltown regions. As an OC and Selective student myself, I understand what it takes to bring out the best academic performance within a student. I have a very flexible teaching style, and am able to break down complex or hybrid concepts into digestible information. I have five years of experience helping children to focus and understand difficult questions, and am able to empathise with struggling students, as progress isn’t always linear.

Most important things I can do for a student 🏅

Understanding that every student moves at their own pace is crucial as a tutor. It’s important that students are reminded that learning is a process, because it can be frustrating not understanding something on the first go. This is especially important for younger students, who are still adapting to regulating their workloads. I find that the more patient and articulate I am when teaching, the less apprehensive students become when receiving feedback and asking for help.

About Sadaf

Experienced Maths & English Tutor for Primary and Early High School

Sadaf is an experienced private tutor who has delivered tailored 1on1 Maths and English lessons to more than ten students aged 7–13. She develops customised programs for NAPLAN, Opportunity Class and Selective school preparation, carefully adjusting the difficulty and style of questions to each child. This tutor tracks individual progress in detail, so parents can clearly see improvements in skills and confidence over time. Her strong abstract thinking skills help students tackle tricky problemsolving and reading comprehension tasks with less stress.

Strong Educational Background with a Focus on Communication

Sadaf completed her schooling at an academically selective high school and is now studying Speech Pathology at university, giving her a solid understanding of language, communication and how students learn. She draws on this background to explain concepts in simple, clear steps and to rephrase ideas until they “click” for each student. This tutor is skilled at altering her communication style—using visuals, examples, or guided questioning—so that different learners stay engaged and understand the work.

Organised, Personable and Adaptable Teaching Style

Known for her meticulous organisational skills, Sadaf comes to each lesson with a structured plan, targeted practice questions and short review activities to consolidate learning. She has created her own worksheets and practice tests for NAPLAN and Selective preparation, which she adapts based on a child’s mistakes and strengths. Drawing on experience working with diverse people in busy environments, this tutor remains calm, friendly and encouraging, helping even anxious students feel comfortable asking questions and trying challenging tasks.
