What do I enjoy most about tutoring? 😁

I enjoy being able to help someone understand something they previously found difficult and seeing them gain confidence in themselves. It's really rewarding when the students have the 'light bulb' moment when things start to make sense. I also really enjoy seeing them progress and grow both as an individual and as a student.

My Strengths as Tutor 💪

My strengths are that I am very understanding and patient. I'm able to understand the student struggles and create a response that will help the students learn and understand best. I am always encouraging and supportive even when something takes time to understand or even when they make a mistake. I'm also reliable and organised, which helps create a structured and productive learning experience.

Most important things I can do for a student 🏅

I believe the most important things are building the students confidence, creating a safe space where they feel comfortable making mistakes and ensuring that the learning structure/method is tailored for each individual needs. A tutor should not only help with understanding content but also encourage independent thinking and gain a positive attitude towards learning.

About Lisa

Friendly bilingual tutor who connects easily with students

Lisa is a warm, approachable tutor who relates especially well to primary and early high school students. As a fluent Japanese speaker who also understands French, she enjoys helping students see language as something fun and alive, not just a school subject. Her background in leadership and customer-facing roles means she listens carefully, explains ideas clearly and notices when a student is confused, adjusting her approach so they feel comfortable asking questions.

Peer support and mentoring experience

As a Peer Support Leader at school, Lisa has guided younger students through the challenges of starting high school, including study habits, time management and building confidence. She is used to leading small groups, running activities and checking that everyone understands instructions. This experience shapes her tutoring style: she breaks tasks into manageable steps, uses gentle prompts rather than giving answers straight away, and encourages shy students to have a go without fear of making mistakes.

Creative, patient and safety-conscious role model

Currently studying a Diploma of Professional Dance, Lisa brings creativity, discipline and strong focus to her tutoring sessions. She often uses simple movement, rhythm or visual cues to help students remember tricky concepts in English or language work. With a First Aid Certificate and a calm, patient manner, she provides a safe, reassuring environment where children feel at ease. Parents can expect a reliable tutor who balances kindness with clear expectations, helping students build both skills and self-belief.
