What do I enjoy most about tutoring? 😁
What I find most rewarding about tutoring is the opportunity to empower the next generation. I enjoy guiding students through complex technical material and helping them sharpen their problem-solving skills, knowing that this knowledge gives them the agency to shape the future. At the same time, teaching these fundamentals gives me a much deeper appreciation for the pioneers who first developed these concepts. It is a privilege to help carry that intellectual legacy forward.
My Strengths as Tutor 💪
My first strength is helping students see the 'why' behind the work. I’ve found that when I explain the logic and derivations of the pioneers who first solved these problems, the material becomes much more intuitive and enjoyable.
I believe another big strength of mine is my empathy. During my time as a peer mentor at RMIT, I’ve made it a priority to remember exactly what it felt like to encounter technical challenges for the first time. This perspective allows me to stay patient and approachable when helping other students.
Most important things I can do for a student 🏅
I believe the most important thing a tutor can do is empower a student to think for themselves. As a peer mentor at RMIT, I focused on giving students the tools to solve problems independently, while also providing the historical context of those problems. When a student understands the logic of those who came before them, they are better equipped to build the things that come next.
