What do I enjoy most about tutoring? 😁
What I enjoy most about tutoring is seeing the moment when a student truly understands a concept they previously found difficult. I find it rewarding to break down complex ideas into something more approachable and to adapt my explanations based on how each student thinks. I also enjoy building a supportive learning environment where students feel comfortable asking questions and developing confidence in their abilities.
My Strengths as Tutor 💪
I believe my strengths as a tutor lie in my patience, adaptability, and communication skills. I can explain concepts in different ways until they make sense, and adjust my approach based on each student’s needs.
As a multilingual speaker (English and Mandarin, with some Japanese and German), I can also explain ideas across languages when helpful. With a background in psychology, I aim to support both understanding and confidence in learning.
Most important things I can do for a student 🏅
I think one of the most important things a tutor can do is to build a student’s confidence and independence in learning. Rather than simply giving answers, a tutor should guide students to understand the underlying logic and develop problem-solving skills. It is also important to create a supportive and non-judgmental environment, where students feel safe to make mistakes and learn from them.

About yiyuan
A bit about me!
Hi!!! Really nice to meet you! I’m currently a third year psychology student studying at Unimelb. I come from China but have moved to Australia for a really long time, therefore I speak both fluent mandarin and English! Just out of personal interest, I can also speak conversational German (my uni minor) and Japanese (love anime)! I enjoy photography, swimming, badminton, tea art and tons of things! I did VCE NHT methods and specialist maths, I was the maths captain in high school, held maths clubs, worked with a bunch of teenagers (yr7-12), so I know what will work out and what will not. Don’t hesitate and pick me as your tutor or your children’s tutor!
Available time:
Monday: After 4pm
Friday: After 6pm
Flexible all the other days!
How far I’m willing to travel:
I live in south Yarra, however I do not have a car, so anywhere can be travelled by a public transport around half an hour is fine for me. I’m also happy to do online meeting.
