What do I enjoy most about tutoring? 😁

What I enjoy most is building that one-on-one connection with a student and really understanding how they think. Everyone learns differently, so I find it fulfilling to figure out the best way to explain something for each individual. There's also something really satisfying about tracking their progress over time watching someone go from feeling stuck to feeling confident in a subject makes the effort worthwhile. It also keeps me sharp in my own studies, which I find to be a great bonus.

My Strengths as Tutor 💪

I'd say my key strengths are patience, clear communication, and adaptability. I never make a student feel embarrassed for not understanding something. I believe every question is valid and every student learns at their own pace. I'm also good at reading when an explanation isn't working and switching approaches on the spot. Being an international student myself, I understand what it feels like to work hard in an unfamiliar environment, which helps me connect with and motivate students who are struggling. Now, I am currently studying engineering, I'm very comfortable with maths and science.

Most important things I can do for a student 🏅

I think the most important thing a tutor can do is make the student feel safe to be wrong. So many students disengage from learning because they're afraid of making mistakes or looking unintelligent. Once that fear is removed, real learning can happen. Beyond that, I think a tutor should personalise every session understanding where the student is struggling, what their goals are, and how they best absorb information. Finally, I believe the ultimate goal of tutoring is to make yourself unnecessary. The best outcome is a student who no longer needs you because they've built the skills.
