What do I enjoy most about tutoring? 😁

Teaching others and seeing them learn, grow in confidence, and excel in their studies is something I find highly rewarding. I enjoy helping students overcome challenges, develop effective study habits, and achieve their academic goals, particularly by creating a supportive and engaging learning environment tailored to their individual needs.

My Strengths as Tutor 💪

The ability to nurture students, plan ahead effectively, and adapt lessons to individual learning needs, while always being prepared to answer questions clearly and confidently. Having completed the IB programme myself and been mentored by high-achieving tutors, I understand the demands of rigorous academic environments and the importance of strong exam preparation strategies. This experience has given me insight into effective study techniques, time management, and how to break down complex concepts in a way that is engaging and easy to understand for students.

Most important things I can do for a student 🏅

Helping students understand concepts in a clear and engaging way is something I genuinely enjoy. I find it rewarding to break down difficult ideas into simpler explanations, allowing students to build confidence in their abilities and apply their knowledge effectively in exams and assessments.

About Hezekiel

Academic background

I have a strong academic background developed through the IB, where I achieved a Band 6 in Mathematics AI SL and a Band 5 in Chemistry SL. Through this experience, I developed solid foundations in problem-solving, analytical thinking, and applying mathematical concepts in structured ways. I also gained experience in academic writing and research, strengthening my ability to communicate ideas clearly and support arguments with evidence. I am currently studying Exercise Physiology at UNSW, where I continue to build on my understanding of human performance, science, and data analysis in a rigorous university environment.

My experiences of tutoring

I dont have any experience in tutoring. However, through my own academic journey, I experienced firsthand the impact of effective tutoring. At the end of Year 11, I was predicted an ATAR of around 70, which led my parents to arrange tutoring support for me. With the guidance, structure, and exam-focused strategies I received from my tutors, I was able to significantly improve my performance and ultimately achieve an ATAR of 92.3. This experience gave me a clear understanding of how influential good tutoring can be in transforming a student’s confidence, study habits, and results. Because of this, I understand what effective tutoring looks like from a student’s perspective, and I am aware of the importance of patience, clear explanations, and structured guidance in helping students reach their full potential.

Personal Strengths

I have strong experience in maintaining a healthy and balanced lifestyle, successfully managing both high-level sport commitments and academic responsibilities. This has helped me develop discipline, time management, and resilience, which I aim to pass on to students. I also have experience in teaching effective exam strategies, including time management techniques, question interpretation, and structured problem-solving approaches. I focus on helping students practise under exam conditions so they become comfortable with pressure and can perform consistently. Additionally, I am able to quickly identify and address weak areas in a student’s understanding, allowing for targeted improvement and faster progress. Last but not least, I am a friendly and approachable person, which helps create a supportive learning environment where students feel comfortable asking questions and building confidence.
