What do I enjoy most about tutoring? 😁

What I enjoy most about tutoring is the sense of fulfilment that comes from connecting with younger students and supporting their learning journey. A key aspect I enjoy is witnessing the moment when understanding β€œclicksÒ€ for a student. Being able to explain concepts in different ways and link their learning to their personal interests or everyday experiences helps make abstract ideas more accessible and engaging. It is rewarding to see students go from uncertainty to clarity as they begin to apply their knowledge independently.

My Strengths as Tutor πŸ’ͺ

Some include patience, adaptability, and creativity in how I explain concepts. Working with students from pre-kindy to Year 8 has required me to adjust my teaching approach depending on their age, confidence level, and learning style. Another strength is my ability to build positive connections with students, which helps create an encouraging and trusting learning environment. I was also referred to this opportunity through a connection with Jalina Xie, who spoke with Ivana, which reflects my ability to form strong professional relationships and engage positively within educational settings.

Most important things I can do for a student πŸ…

It goes beyond simply helping them master subject content. While understanding concepts is important, strong academic performance is ultimately built on consistent effort, proactive mindset, and the ability to engage with problems independently. A key role of a tutor is to guide how a student approaches a question, not just how to arrive at the answer. This involves asking the right prompting questions, breaking problems into manageable steps, and encouraging students to develop a structured way of thinking that they can apply across different topics and assessments.
