What I enjoy most about tutoring is helping students move from confusion to understanding, particularly in mathematics, where small breakthroughs can significantly elevate both confidence and ability. I enjoy finding different ways to explain a concept until it resonates with the student, as effective learning often comes down to presenting an idea in a way that matches their individual learning style. About Mikayla
High School and Tertiary Education
During my VCE studies, I completed Mathematical Methods, with my results reflecting a strong commitment to academic excellence. I am currently halfway through a double degree comprising a Bachelor of Mathematics and a Bachelor of Secondary Education.
Work experience
As part of my studies, I completed my first teaching placement at a public college, working closely with experienced teachers to support and deliver lessons from Year 7 Mathematics to Year 12 Vocational Major (VM). I have been employed as an education and administrative assistant, mentoring high school students to improve study habits, time management, and academic performance.
Hobbies
As much as I enjoy analytical thinking, I equally value artistic expression. I am an independent artist with a particular focus on charcoal drawing, and I also enjoy knitting and upcycling clothing. I am currently knitting a blanket and attend weekly drawing classes to continue developing my artistic practice. I am also an experienced traveller, having backpacked solo extensively throughout Europe and South-East Asia. These experiences have strengthened my independence, adaptability, and appreciation for different cultures, and I hope to one day combine my passion for travel and education by teaching abroad.

We should continue to build a stronger understanding of the representation of fractions; sometimes there is a misunderstanding of what fractions actually represent and whether or not they can be simplified further or are equivalent to another fraction.
