What do I enjoy most about tutoring? 😁

What I enjoy most about tutoring is seeing my students progress and gaining confidence in their abilities. From my experience as a primary school Science teacher, I have witnessed students initially face difficulty with certain topics. However, through consistent lessons, practice and encouragement, they were able to overcome those challenges and excel in science. Seeing their growth makes me feel proud and fulfilled, and it motivates me to continue supporting students in their learning journey.

My Strengths as Tutor 💪

One of my key strengths as a tutor is patience. I understand that every student learns differently, and I am committed to exploring different methods to ensure my students truly understand the concepts being taught. My teaching experience has also made me skilled at breaking down complex ideas into more digestible parts and in creating effective learning materials (worksheets & quizzes) In addition, I have a strong academic background and a passion for mathematics. I achieved an A* (90+) in my Cambridge A-level Exam and was awarded Best in Mathematics multiple times from Year 8-12.

Most important things I can do for a student 🏅

I believe the most important quality a tutor can have is being perceptive and responsive to the student. A tutor must be able to recognise when a student is struggling, even if the student does not explicitly say so. If a tutor continues a lesson without ensuring understanding, it can create gaps in knowledge that may become significant hurdles later on. Therefore, it is essential to regularly check for understanding and encourage students to ask questions. A tutor should also take initiative by identifying areas of confusion and addressing them which overall builds a strong foundation.
